i used to understand it as

well.....
pass by as you said means يعرض على قولتنا في الجنوب .
i still remember when I asked my american friend and he works on the library on the front disck
"have you seen Saleeh ( A palestinian guy)" I said.
he answered me " ya.. he just passed by before a while" he said..
يعني عرض من امامه

so you are learning Chinese.... nice
I am taking France this summer and I am quite happy because my advisor allowed me to take it...
