WORK has started on the second phase of the Doha expressway, leading to Salwa, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has said.
The project involves construction of an intersection to link the expressway with Sailiya towards Doha at the roundabout near the Industrial Estate.
The Croatian firm, Konstruktor Inzenjering, which is in charge of the project, will be constructing the triple carriageway road on each direction. Two lanes on each side will be for light vehicles while the third lane will be restricted for trailers and heavy vehicles.
Alternative routes have been charted out to ease the incoming traffic from Salwa especially for heavy vehicles during the implementation of the project.
These fully illuminated diversions will be opened to the public from next month, says Ashghal.
